EPA designated Moab as a Green Power Community

The National Environmental Policy Act was signed into law by President Nixon on January 1, 1970 and the Environmental Protection Agency was created on December 2, 1970. The mission of the agency is to protect human health and the environment. In 2004 the EPA designated Moab as the nation's first clean energy community. The upper basin of the Colorado River, including Utah is in Region 8 and the lower basin of the Colorado River is in Region 9. New Mexico is in Region 6.
